Dr. Brij Mohan Makkar is a renowned Senior Diabetologist and Obesity Specialist. He completed his post-graduation in internal medicine from Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi, in 1987 and has been an active member of the Indian Medical Association, even serving as president of its IMA Outer-west Branch in 2000-01. Dr. Makkar specializes in Diabetes, Obesity, and Metabolic Syndrome. He is a founding member of the Delhi Diabetic Forum, has held various positions within the organization, and is involved with Diabetes India and the Research Society for the Study of Diabetes in India (RSSDI), including serving as the honorary secretary from 2017 to 2019. He is also a past president of the RSSDI Delhi Chapter and has been on the RSSDI National Executive Committee since 2010.
Dr. Makkar holds memberships with international associations such as the American Diabetes Association, the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD), the European Association for the Study of Obesity (EASO), and the Canadian Obesity Research Network. He is a certified trainer for the Staged Diabetes Management Program and a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in Glasgow and Edinburgh, the American College of Physicians, and the American College of Clinical Endocrinology.
He is recognized internationally, having been a guest faculty at numerous conferences worldwide, and has contributed extensively to the literature on Obesity and Type 2 Diabetes with many national and international publications. Dr. Makkar is also active in clinical research in diabetes, obesity, and metabolic syndrome. Known for his clinical acumen and dedication to patient care, he also engages in charitable work, offering free or subsidized care to underprivileged patients.
Dr. Nilendu Sarma is practicing dermatologist in Kolkata. At present Associate Professor and Head Dr. B C Roy Post Graduate Institute of Pediatric Science.
